Biofuels International magazine, December 2019

In his article ‘Counting the Costs’ in the latest issue of Biofuels International magazine, Mark Waddington discusses consumer affordability of a high(er) percentage biofuels blend.  Mark explains how, since Biofuels Mandates were introduced with the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS) programme in 2006, the use of ethanol and Biodiesel has steadily increased.  A more significant hike upwards has come since the shift to RED II where there’s a split between first generation (ethanol and bioproducts like FAME which goes into diesel) and second generation (or advanced) Biofuels like HVO, all of which is expected to have an impact on price. He considers developing economic scenarios, different approaches to blending and even whether there will be protests at the pump. Read Mark’s full article here: https://www.biofuelsinternationalcountingthecosts
